Spidersweave

Paul Shortis has designed for print and for the web since 1982 when he first left college with a degree in computer science.

To fulfill a dream, to be allowed to sweat over lonely labor, to be given the chance to create, is the meat and potatoes of life.

Bette Davis, The Lonely Life, 1962

Over the years he has continued to supplement his skill set taking two degree's--one in graphic design and the other in web publishing.

Graphic Design

Graphic design is the process of communicating visually using text and images to present information. Graphic design practice embraces a range of cognitive skills, aestheticsCave painting by Carmem L Vilanova and crafts, including typography, visual arts and page layout. Here, at Spidersweave, we have both the creative and technical skills to make the mundane into the extraordinary by embracing those techniques.

Web Publishing

The first websites appeared in 1991, published by Tim Berners-Lee, from those first simple sites the craft has evolved but has the same basic requirements.
Spidersweave also evolved building websites through the 1990s on to the present day some of the skills have changed and we have changed along with them but our work still rests on the skills that have worked for artists for centuries and are the bedrock for all elements of design.
